Microfiber Rollers
Woven paint roller covers are similar to microfiber roller covers except that microfiber covers consist of microfiber fabric. This fabric is similar to normal fabric, except that the fibers are exceptionally small. The fibers on a microfiber roller are attached to the roller with epoxy, making the microfiber rollers exceptionally strong. During a paint job, the fibers remain in place, which means they do not cause unappealing flaws on the surface with fibers appearing in the paint.
The fibers are exceptionally small, only 1/5 the diameter of a human hair, which is smaller than a silk thread. These fibers are manufactured with the following synthetic materials or a combination of these materials: nylon, polypropylene, polyester, Trogamide, Kevlar, Nomex, and polyamide.
Microfibers are highly effective at absorbing liquids, particularly water-based paints. These fibers are not hard or rough enough to cause scratch damage to paintwork unless they become contaminated with hard particles or grit from previous use. As a result, when they are used to paint surfaces, they can produce a very smooth finish with only nominal texture. They are the perfect tool to ensure a uniform finish with the desired smoothness on surfaces.
Woven Rollers
Woven fabrics in rollers are developed through the use of 90° angles. They produce a notably tight cross-section of fibers. Some advantages of woven roller covers include their ability to produce a smooth finish, along with the fact that they shed minimal fibers and are virtually lint-free. A woven roller cover is ideal for applying a high-gloss finish.
Roller covers manufactured with woven fabric may be used with multiple paint types such as enamels, eggshell, high-gloss, semi-gloss, satin, flat and epoxies as well.
